What did you like about the book? A great introduction to meteorology for kids with fun illustrations, informative graphs, and diagrams to help kids visual the text. Readers will learn a little about the layers of the atmosphere and how to measure different weather-related phenomena as well as the devices that do the measuring, types of satellites and orbits, how weather balloons work, and how T.V. meteorologists know what to expect. There are pages about the author, meteorologist Lisa Spencer, as well as a glossary and instructions on how to make your own thunderstorm and weather vane.

Anything you didn’t like about it? Not really, but it’s a lot of information. Younger kids might benefit from breaking up the book into two or more reading sessions.

To whom would you recommend this book? Children ages 8-12 who are interested in the weather.

Who should buy this book? Elementary schools and public libraries

Where would you shelve it? Non-fiction picture books

Should we (librarians/readers) put this on the top of our “to read” piles? Sure, if you have young weather enthusiasts in your demographic
